A Glorious Gathering for Global Good

The Parliamentary Society for Arts, Fashion and Sports is thrilled to share the extraordinary experience of our Chairwoman and Director, Rebeca Riofrio, at the Social Innovation and Global Ethics Forum (SIGEF) 2024. This prestigious event, a champion of the United Nations' 2030 Agenda, is organized by the Horyou Foundation and Horyou, the Social Network for Social Good. It stands as a beacon for advocates of sustainable development, drawing world-renowned speakers and offering unparalleled networking opportunities.

Since its inception, SIGEF has traveled the globe, holding editions in Geneva, Marrakesh, Astana, Singapore, Tokyo, and Davos. Adapting to the changing times, the forum hosted online editions in 2021 and 2022. This year, the event returned with a vibrant and dynamic atmosphere, reflecting its ongoing commitment to fostering social good.

SIGEFWomen 2024: Empowering the Future

A highlight of this year's event was SIGEF Women 2024, a special summit held in Malta. The gathering brought together government authorities, business executives, international organization representatives, and academia to discuss critical themes such as "Women Changing the World," "Women in Business and Innovation," and "Gender Equality in AI, Web3, and the Metaverse."

The summit celebrated women as sources of inspiration in sustainable lifestyles, the arts, and building a more inclusive future. These passionate discussions not only shared experiences but also proposed innovative solutions for a better tomorrow.

The Olive Tree of Malta: A Symbol of Endurance and Peace

A moment of profound significance for Rebeca Riofrio was receiving the prestigious Olive Tree of Malta award, presented by SIGEF President Yonathan Parienti and entrepreneur Nicolas Brochet. This award, deeply rooted in history and mythology, symbolizes friendship, reconciliation, cleansing, healing, light, victory, and richness, and above all, peace.

In Greek mythology, Athena's gift of the olive tree to the people of Athens symbolized sustenance, shelter, and energy, embodying wisdom over power. Today, olive trees are celebrated for their longevity, resilience in harsh conditions, and their life-sustaining fruits and oil.

Personal Reflections: The Path to Success

Rebeca Riofrio's address at the summit was a powerful reminder of the resilience required to succeed, irrespective of gender. She emphasized the importance of valuing our time, learning to say no to distractions that do not align with our goals, embracing failures as steps toward success, and surrounding ourselves with those who celebrate our achievements.

The olive tree's legacy teaches us to endure, thrive in adverse conditions, and illuminate the world around us. It is a call to share our inner light, much like the ancient oil lamps that guided many through darkness.

Conclusion: A Vision for a Sustainable Future

SIGEF 2024 was not just a conference but a convergence of minds and hearts dedicated to the global good. The Parliamentary Society for Arts, Fashion and Sports celebrates the spirit of resilience, wisdom, and peace exemplified by Rebeca Riofrio and all participants. As we move forward, the lessons from the olive tree and the powerful dialogues at SIGEF Women inspire us to create a more sustainable and inclusive future.

Let us carry forward this spirit in all our endeavors, working together to build a better world.
