180 Strand, London by Rebeca Riofrio
This London Fashion Week, Morocco Kingdom of Light transported guests into an enchanting world of craftsmanship, heritage, and artistic splendour. Invited by Purple PR to this extraordinary showcase, I found myself stepping into a realm where Moroccan culture was seamlessly interwoven with haute couture.
Held at the headquarters of the British Fashion Council, 180 Strand, the event was nothing short of a multisensory experience. As soon as one entered, the air was filled with the rich aromas of Middle Eastern tea and traditional biscuits, while live drumming set the tone for an immersive cultural celebration. This spectacle, representing the Kingdom of Morocco, introduced two visionary designers—Maison Sara Chraïbi and Maison Artc—each presenting a distinct perspective on Moroccan heritage through fashion.
The Designers: Tradition Meets Contemporary Vision
Sara Chraïbi’s "THE HEAVENS" Haute Couture collection was a masterclass in precision and poetic craftsmanship. A trained architect, Chraïbi infuses her designs with structural harmony, intricate embroidery, and a seamless blend of North African and Mediterranean influences. Her collection pays homage to femininity, creativity, and the beauty of movement, balancing tradition with modernity in a way that speaks to the soul of Moroccan artistry.

On the other hand, Maison Artc’s collection, "COMING HOME", took audiences on a deeply emotional journey. This Marrakesh-based cultural house, led by designer Artsi Ifrach, explored the experiences of the Moroccan diaspora—blending nostalgic memories with contemporary influences from around the world. Each of the 20 looks was a one-of-a-kind creation, crafted using antique garments and textiles, breathing new life into vintage fabrics. Silks, tulle, and printed cotton were meticulously curated to reflect a vibrant, yet deeply personal narrative—one that pays homage to Morocco’s rich history while reimagining it for today’s global landscape.
A Star-Studded Celebration of Moroccan Excellence
The showcase drew an illustrious crowd, including supermodel Adot Gak, designer Jasper Conran OBE, Vogue's Hamish Bowles, athlete Annie Tagoe, and the British Ambassador to Morocco, Hakim Hajoui. Each guest bore witness to the artistic grandeur of Moroccan fashion—an industry that is not only preserving centuries-old craftsmanship but also evolving it for the modern world.

Morocco: A Rising Global Influence in Fashion and Travel
Recent statistics reveal that Morocco has surpassed Spain as a leading travel destination, a testament to the world’s growing fascination with its cultural and artistic offerings. As this fashion week spectacle demonstrated, Morocco’s influence is not confined to tourism alone. The event showcased a nation deeply rooted in tradition yet boldly pushing the boundaries of creative expression, bringing Moroccan artistry to the global stage.
Through Morocco Kingdom of Light, London Fashion Week was transformed into a vibrant homage to Moroccan elegance—an experience that was not just about fashion, but about storytelling, heritage, and the enduring power of cultural identity.
