From 8 to 12 March 2023, Marrakech once again hosted a new edition of the Morocco Fashion Week (MFW).
The cultural space Meyden hosted the first show of the MFW on Friday, March 10. A full venue, an international line-up, and designers from all over the world presented their spring-summer 2023 collections.
From the wild grace of the Central Asian steppes, expressed by Hanum Aidash, to the modest- fashion spirit of Maryam El Himer, from the revisited heritage of Gabarit to the artistic ingenuity of Zineb Hazim. Not forgetting the New York influences of Christophe Guillarmé or the unexpected work of young talents from Nazareth's Acadamia Di Moda, the Chardon Savard atelier and the Escom Bel school. This colourful and material-rich event perfectly reflected the essence of a fashion that promotes cultural diversity and favours the rapprochement of peoples.
In another register, the MFW was invited to the Royal Mansour where the big names of the Moroccan fashion sphere gathered, but also, well-known names in Lebanon, Palestine and France. The most beautiful creations of Lamia Lakhsassi impressed the audience. Elegance and refinement are the DNA of Houda Serbouti, while voluptuousness and fluidity are the name of Salma Lazrak. Greek mythology was rethought by Bernard Jabbour, tailoring was adorned with embroidery by Omri Elayan and Kim Kordza closed the show with an iconic wedding dress.
This new edition of MFW also saw the birth of a new name in the fashion world. Indeed, Donia Shehadeh from Kfar Yasif in Palestine, was awarded the trophy of the best young talent by the jury composed of the famous stylist Said Mahrouf, the editor-in-chief of Myluxurylife.ma, Khadija Dinia, the lifestyle influencer, Fashionmintea, the director of Fashion Channel, Marzio Nocera and the journalist of L'Officiel Baltic, Angela Donova.
The MFW also welcomed models’ members of the Parliamentary Society on their catwalk Julia K Muller, Luise Hasse and actress Lili Rich.
At the end of this edition marked by excellence, a fund-raising event was held thanks to prestigious donors such as Viviane Westwood, Karim Tassi and paintings by the painter Hamidi Marrakech. The fundraising was made for the benefit of the Atlas Kinder Association.
In addition, a posthumous tribute was paid to Hubert Hansjorg, to honour his memory and to continue the work of the Swiss philanthropist, whose aim was to protect abandoned children by creating a real home for them.
