Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week - On the 26th of January 2025, at the luxurious Shangri-La Hotel in Paris became the epicentre of haute couture as the Oriental Fashion Show unveiled a breathtaking spectacle of elegance, heritage, and modern craftsmanship. Invited by the visionary Hind Joudar, I had the privilege of attending this extraordinary event, where a fusion of tradition and innovation came alive on the runway. The show was a dazzling homage to the artistry of Oriental fashion, bringing together designers from across the globe to showcase their unique interpretations of cultural elegance.
A Tapestry of Cultures and Creations
From the very first presentation, the runway was a vision of intricate embroidery, shimmering fabrics, and masterful tailoring. The event brought together a remarkable lineup of designers, each presenting collections that reflected their cultural heritage while embracing modern design elements.
Among the standout designers was Hany El Behairy, one of Egypt’s most renowned couturiers, celebrated for his lavish evening gowns and wedding dresses adorned with hand-embroidered details, crystals, and pearls. His designs exude sophistication, making him a favourite among Middle Eastern royalty and celebrities.
Sheikha Tufool bint Abdullah Al Shanfari, the creative force behind Yoland Fashion House, seamlessly blends Oman’s rich cultural heritage with a modern aesthetic, offering a luxurious take on traditional Arabian silhouettes. Her designs feature handwoven textiles, intricate beadwork, and a deep appreciation for traditional craftsmanship.
Hind Berrada of Regalia continues to redefine Moroccan haute couture, fusing the elegance of traditional caftans with contemporary silhouettes. Her pieces are a tribute to Moroccan heritage, featuring exquisite embroidery, delicate lacework, and the finest fabrics sourced from around the world.
Göwher Gouvernet brings her background in Parisian couture to her Turkmen-inspired designs, ensuring a balance between traditional artistry and high fashion.
Uzbekistan was well represented by Rano Khamroeva, known for reviving the art of suzani embroidery in contemporary fashion. Her designs incorporate rich, hand-stitched motifs on luxurious fabrics, creating a bold and sophisticated aesthetic.
Nargisa Jabbarova, another standout from Uzbekistan, reimagines historical dress forms, elevating them with a modern touch and striking colour palettes.
The Jordanian fashion sphere was equally represented by Laith Maalouf, whose couture creations exude timeless elegance. His designs are characterised by sculptural silhouettes, intricate embellishments, and a signature fusion of Middle Eastern opulence with European refinement.
Eman Al Ahmed is recognised for her ability to merge contemporary cuts with traditional Arabian embroidery, creating garments that celebrate the strength and beauty of modern women.
Sara Mansour is another luminary from Jordan, specialising in bridal and evening wear that exudes romance and femininity through layers of ethereal fabrics and hand-sewn beading.
Leyla Kashani’s Persian-inspired designs are a testament to her deep appreciation for cultural heritage. Her collections feature antique textiles, elaborate Persian motifs, and luxurious hand-painted silks, making each piece an artistic statement.

A Platform for Cultural Exchange
Beyond the breathtaking fashion, the Oriental Fashion Show served as a bridge between East and West, honouring ancestral traditions while pushing the boundaries of contemporary fashion. The event celebrated artisanship and diversity, ensuring that age-old techniques continue to thrive in the ever-evolving world of haute couture.
This experience was further enriched by engaging with inspiring individuals throughout the day, both in the audience and backstage. The afternoon show, in particular, provided an intimate glimpse into the creative minds behind these masterpieces, allowing attendees to appreciate the passion and craftsmanship that define Oriental couture.
A Lasting Impression
As the final model gracefully exited the runway, it was evident that the Oriental Fashion Show had once again succeeded in delivering a spectacle that transcended borders. The event was not merely a fashion show—it was a celebration of heritage, artistry, and the universal language of beauty.
For those who revel in the world of couture, the Oriental Fashion Show remains a beacon of elegance and innovation, illuminating the intricate narratives woven into every thread. My gratitude extends to Hind Joudar for the invitation, and to all the designers who continue to breathe life into the legacy of Oriental fashion. Until next year, Paris, à bientôt!
